MyPetHQ ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
- Profile information: Pet details, care notes, feeding schedules, vet information, and emergency contacts that you enter into the app.
- Location information: Providers may optionally enter a general city and state (e.g. "Fairmont, WV") to their profile so clients can find them. We do not collect precise GPS location or street addresses.
- Business information: Booking records, invoices, grooming appointments, and client information for providers.
- Photos: Photos you upload as part of daily pet updates.
- Device information: Push notification tokens to deliver booking reminders, in-app badge counts, and updates.
- Reviews: Ratings and written reviews you submit about a provider, along with whether you chose to post anonymously.
- Payment information: If a provider enables card payments, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe — we do not collect or store your card number, expiration date, or CVV. If a provider enables Cash App, Venmo, or PayPal as a payment option, we store the handle they provide (e.g. a Cash App $Cashtag) so clients can pay them directly; we are not a party to those transactions.
- Electronic signatures: If you pay an invoice by card, we collect an electronic signature — either drawn or typed — confirming your agreement to that specific charge, along with the date, amount, and your name. This is stored as part of the invoice record and can be downloaded as a PDF.
- Security information: If you enable two-factor authentication, we store a security key used to generate your verification codes, along with cryptographic hashes of your backup codes and of any devices you choose to remember. We never store your backup codes or verification codes themselves — only hashes that can confirm a match without revealing the original value.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the MyPetHQ service.
- To send push notifications for booking reminders, invoices, payment confirmations, and pet updates, and to maintain accurate unread counts on in-app notification badges.
- To sync data between provider and client accounts when linked.
- To display a provider's general location (city/state) and reviews to clients searching for a provider.
- To process card payments through Stripe when a provider has enabled that option.
- To improve and develop new features.
- To respond to support requests.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Between linked accounts: When a client links to a provider, relevant pet and booking data is shared between their accounts.
- Service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for data storage and authentication, Resend for transactional emails, Expo for push notifications, Stripe for card payment processing where a provider has enabled it, and Apple's App Store / Google Play Store to verify Pro subscription purchases.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law.
- Reviews: Reviews you leave for a provider are publicly visible on our website, including your name unless you choose to post anonymously.
- Provider location: A provider's city and state, if entered, are publicly visible to clients browsing our provider directory.
4. Payments
MyPetHQ offers providers multiple ways to accept payment from clients, at the provider's discretion:
- Card payments (Stripe): If a provider connects a Stripe account, clients can pay invoices by card directly in the app. Card details are entered through Stripe's own secure payment interface and are never transmitted to or stored by MyPetHQ. The provider is the merchant of record for these transactions and is responsible for any disputes or chargebacks on their payments. MyPetHQ deducts a flat $0.50 application fee from the provider's payout on each card payment, in addition to Stripe's own processing fee — this fee is not charged to the client. Providers can avoid this fee entirely by not connecting a Stripe account and instead using Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, or cash.
- Cash App, Venmo, and PayPal: If a provider adds a handle for any of these services, MyPetHQ generates a link that opens that app with the amount pre-filled. These are direct, peer-to-peer transfers between the client and provider — MyPetHQ is not involved in, and does not process, collect, or have visibility into, these payments. The provider is responsible for confirming receipt and marking the invoice as paid.
- Cash: Providers may also accept cash or other payment arrangements made directly with their clients, outside the app.
- Cancellation and refund policies: Providers may set their own cancellation and refund policy, which is shown to clients before they pay by card. MyPetHQ is not a party to, and does not enforce, these policies — they are an agreement between the provider and their client.
5. Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase's Firestore database. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and data at any time directly within the app, under Settings, or by contacting us at support@mypethq.app. If you are a provider, deleting your account automatically emails you a CSV export of your invoice records for your own tax and bookkeeping purposes before your data is removed.
6. Push Notifications
We use push notifications to send booking reminders, invoice and payment alerts, and pet update notifications, and to maintain unread badge counts on the relevant tabs within the app. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings or within the MyPetHQ app settings.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 18, please contact us immediately.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and export a copy of the personal information we hold about you, directly within the app under Settings.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Delete your account and data, directly within the app under Settings, or by contacting us.
- Opt out of push notifications.
- Remove your city/state or payment handles from your provider profile at any time.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
